In the case of funeral pre-arrangement, another two important steps are involved:
  • Write out your plan with as many details as possible.
  • Send your plan to the funeral home and provide a copy to your executor.
There are two ways for you to complete your funeral pre-arrangement plan.

Transfer Arrangements

One important consideration is if you have pre-funded your funeral at another funeral home and want those arrangements brought to our funeral home. In short, all you have to do is complete our "Transfer of Assignment Form." You do not need to contact the other funeral home, we will take care of all documentation and forms for you.
 
This is a very simple process and will be explained to you fully. Georgia law requires that pre-funded funerals be totally transferable at the individuals request. At Higgins LaGrange Chapel, we go another step in that we honor your pre-arranged funeral dollar for dollar. In most cases, your family will probably receive money back at the time of your death because our prices are reflective of a local family owned funeral home. Funerals that have been pre-paid in the state of Georgia can only be honored at the funeral home's current prices at the time of your death. The family will never, per Georgia law, be charged more for those services if they have been pre-paid in full, but the servicing funeral home must reimburse any overage in your funeral account to your family once services have been rendered.

Shipping and receiving of remains

It is our goal to provide every need your family may have. We will arrange to transport your loved one to an out of town location, including transportation via the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. We will arrange all flight information for your loved one including working with the receiving Funeral Home.

In addition, we will work with forwarding Funeral Homes to arrange to have your loved one brought to LaGrange for services and burial. We will handle all the details to assure your wishes are followed.
